Politics with Inquiry Club

Shek Leong (Shawn) Wong

The Politics with Inquiry Club is a political science club that strives to foster greater interest and a deeper understanding of the philosophy of political processes, ideologies, systems, and policies among students. We also want to help students understand the history behind the political atmosphere today. We seek to provide opportunities for students to enhance their understanding of political science through engaging discussions, fun games, and interactive activities. We encourage students to find their interests, develop crucial analytical skills, public speaking skills, and communication skills. Lastly, we aim to prepare students for future classes, majors, careers and leadership roles that are related to our club’s field of study.

Science Olympiad

Organizes a team of 15+ students to compete in the Science Olympiad, a national tournament hosting various STEM-related events, including life science, chemistry, engineering, and more. We will compete in 3-4 invitationals, regionals, and potentially state and national tournaments.

AIM Club

AIM Club hopes to bring information about AI and machine learning to children, inspiring them early on on these concepts and ideas that are going to be the future of our world. We will host workshops and seminars both online, and in-person and public community centers for easy access, to teach kids, and help them understand the vast application of AI and ML, including hands-on activities to help them grasp concepts. Our main goal is to inspire the next generation of students by introducing them to the fascinating growing world of Artificial Intelligence and ML.

We will help students compete in the TSA high school competitions mostly related to computer science and engineering. We are Aspiring to Create English (ACE), an AmeriCorps-certified international nonprofit focusing on promoting global friendships and empowering underprivileged students through 1:1 tutoring. Throughout the school year, we connect U.S. tutors, pen pals, and English Buddies with ESL students worldwide for online meetings, message exchanges, and in-person tutoring. Currently, we have over 150 active students and volunteers across 15 countries.

The SHS VEX Club is committed to fostering a culture of learning and growth, empowering members to develop as engineers and prepare for successful STEM careers, regardless of their starting experience. Last season, the club had a stellar performance, with three teams qualifying for the VEX World Championship. The club also secured the prestigious Excellence Award, the highest recognition in VEX, at both the State Championship and the US Open, where they also emerged as Tournament Champions.

FLUENT is also a recreational and educational space for learning global languages, honing communication skills, tspreading ranslation education, and coaching translation techniques. Our goal is not only to produce strong translators, but also to create informed global citizens ready to adapt and thrive in our globalized society.
